X-ray machines penetrate objects with high-energy X-ray beams. These beams are absorbed to varying degrees by objects based on their densities. As a result, an image showing the internal structure of objects is obtained on a film or digital detector. These images are used by doctors for medical diagnoses or by security personnel for security screenings.
